Over the course of the five months, I worked on a journal article investigating factors that affected a woman's intention or ability to breastfeed their newborn. Although Costa Rica still had strict COVID-19 precautions in place in the beginning of 2022, I was lucky enough to be able to go to the local hospital in San Ramón and investigate this topic at the breastfeeding clinic within the hospital. This ended up being the most meaningful experience I had while studying at the University of Costa Rica because I was able to explore my passion for public health while practicing and improving my ability to communicate in Spanish.
